May is a month in which spring is at its best, a time when our tables are filled with a wide variety of colors, smells and flavors, those that during the winter we have so much missed.
As for fruit, we recommend: Late season fruits: if you are a lover of national products such as Majorcan oranges, grapefruits and strawberries from Sa Pobla, this is your last chance to enjoy its flavor, since its season is finishing and you will only find the latest collections. The avocado season begins. However, we also started to enjoy plums, melons and watermelons. Fruits that are in the middle of the season: how could it be otherwise, we cannot talk about the seasonal fruits of May without mentioning the apricots, the cherries, the lemons, the peaches, the nectarines and the medlars. In addition, we must remember that the banana season extends throughout the year, so it is also one of the fruits that you can consume during the month of May.
Vegetables, new colors, smells and flavors arrive that flood our senses. The eggplant season ends in April, so in May we can only enjoy the last harvests. The same happens with the rest of the May vegetables that we said goodbye to this month, such as the chard, the artichokes, the celery and the broccoli. We are in the middle of the season of wild asparagus and red peppers, but ... do you know what the rest of the seasonal vegetables are in May? The recommended vegetables this month are garlic, zucchini, squash, onion, spinach, green beans, lettuce, cucumbers, leeks, radishes, tomatoes, and carrots.
